Who can open an account?

We accept applications from anyone (both individual and corporation) except for United States persons. According to the United States Internal Revenue Service, the term United State person means:

  • A citizen or resident of the United States.
  • A partnership created or organised in the United States or under the law of the United States or of any State.
  • A corporation created or orgnaised in the United States or under the law of the United States or of any State.
  • Any estate other than a foreign estate.
  • Any trust if:
    • A court within the United States is able to exercise primary supervision over the administration of the trust; and
    • One or more United States persons have the authority to control all substantial decisions of the trust.
  • Any other person that is not a foreign person.

Deposit money

STEP 1  Deposit Your Money

You may deposit your money into your account at Hong Kong Securities by the following ways:

1.Internet/ phone banking

2.Cheque

3.ATM

4.Bank branch

5.Overseas/ Telegraphic transfer (“TT”)

NOTE: We DO NOT accept third party deposits.

Please ensure that your name and account number is clearly quoted on all deposits. Otherwise, there may be a delay in processing time.

For transfer by cheque

We accept only HKD (Hong Kong clearing) crossed cheque. Please make your cheque payable to “Hong Kong Securities (International) Company Limited”.
You may either mail the cheque to our office at Suite 6705, 67/F, Central Plaza, 18 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong OR visit any branch of our designated banks and make a cheque deposits to our bank accounts. Please make sure that your name and account number is quoted on all deposits. Otherwise, there may be a delay in processing time.

STEP 2  Notify Us

You may notify us on all deposit transactions by fax the deposit slip to (+852) 2893 8813 or email it to cs@hksecurities.com.hk. You may call our Customer Service hotline at (+852) 2893 5566 if there is any enquiry.

Processing Time & Cost

1.The completion of deposit will be based on processing time of inter-bank clearance.

2.We do not charge you but there may be bank charges.

3.For non-cheque deposit, if we received both your notification AND deposit in our bank account before 4:00 pm (HK time), proceeds will normally be available in your brokerage account within 1 business day.

4.For cheque deposit, if we received both your notification AND deposit in our bank account before 4:00 pm (HK time), proceeds will normally be available in your brokerage account within 2-3 business days.
